Manchester United Legend Sir Bobby Charlton thinks that Newcastle striker Michael Owen is almost certain to break his England scoring record of 49 England goals, and that he is pleased that a player like Owen is going to be the one to do it.
Owen is currently 9 goals short of matching Charlton's record, and has scored 40 goals in 85 games, with 26 of those being in competitive games.
"Michael is certain to beat my record as long as he keeps fit and does not get any more injuries," said Sir Bobby.
That would please me immensely because he is a great little player. I admire anyone that has bounced back from a career-threatening injury like Michael has.
"I never had a serious injury, but it must have been lousy for him - so I'm really delighted for him now. And I am pleased that he is really, really working hard and making the England team tick again. You have to have scorers."
